Spinster’s Emporium School of Stitchery is running workshops every Saturday during Lent at the Hopkinson Gallery in Nottingham (The Art Exchange). We think everyone should have the chance to release their inner crafter whether your a complete novice or die hard creative. Follow the link for workshop descriptions and dates.
Each workshop is only £8 for two hours or if you bring a friend it’s only £5 each! All materials, inspiration, biscuits and loveliness included. Just drop in at 12 or book through our website.
Hope to see you there! xxx
We’re very glad to announce that the Spinster’s Emporium website is up and running again! We took advantage of the break to create a brand new shiny and easier to navigate website so come and have a look.
We’ve also posted a few new textile workshop dates where you can learn hand embroidery, applique and fabric manipulation using vintage materials with a modern twist, all in the comfort of the cosy Spinster’s Emporium studio.
To top it all off we’re having a one-off event on Sunday 6th February where you can make a Valentine’s Day card using our vintage fabrics, wallpapers, buttons and fancy yarns! Its just £2 and there will be two lovely spinsters to help with inspiration and techniques.

This is an original photo by Spinster’s Emporium. Feel free to repost it but please give us some credit.
Thanks lovelies xxx

Hello lovely people!
Just a quick note to let you know that Spinster’s Emporium is getting a new website! Here at Spinster’s HQ we’ve been working very hard to make sure that our products are still available even though our website has been a bit poorly (Look for us on Folksy and Etsy). We’ve had a few previews of the new website and we’re very excited to announce that we’ll be up and running next week!!

Just thought I’d let all you lovely followers know that the Spinster’s Emporium website has caught a virus and will be unavailable until further notice. But not to worry as we’ve tuck it up in bed with some Vicks vapor rub and a hot cup of tea. Until its better we’re putting a few of our products on Folksy and Etsy so you’ll still be able to get your vintage fix.

New vintage fabric on the Spinsters website! xx
Hello fellow bloggers, crafters and people who like stuff,
This week at Spinster’s Emporium I’ve been adding some fabulous vintage knitting patterns to the website and I can’t help but think how wonderfully glamourous some of the old photographs are. Often the photos on knitting patterns seem a bit ridiculous in style and setting but the earlier patterns (pre 1960s) are just gorgeous. Here are just a few of my favourites but why not check out the others for yourself.

1930s cardigan pattern.

1940s glove pattern. Who knew that Fair Isle could be so glamourous?

1950s sweater pattern

Hello hair!

I put this one in because I think its adorable. When I have children they will look like this.
So its definitely winter and Spinsters HQ is extremely chilly. Although our little heater does its best to warm us up, I am finding my thermal undies are earning their keep. Anyway here’s a little something I made so that passing folk would know they can come in the studio instead of staring at us through the window like zoo animals.

It may have been easier to just use a pen but what are pens when there is needle and thread!

Hello!
Those of you who have looked out your windows may have noticed the SNOW! This was the view that greeted me on saturday morning.

A sight like this gives me that warm, tingly (slightly nervous) feeling that Christmas is not far off and that I should really start thinking about presents. So whilst being sat in my cosy kitchen drinking tea I took a browse on that tinterweb to get some inspiration and found this.

I have to be honest, I did let out a tiny squeal of excitement when I saw this (image courtesy of The Rug Company). Just think of all the Spinstery stuff I could use on one of these bad boys! and I think I would start with some fabric like this.

available from Spinster’s Emporium.
Well I leave it there for this post but if your in Nottingham this week why not pop into the Hopkinson Gallery and have some amazingly yummy homemade walnut chocolate brownie.

and maybe have a browse in Spinster’s Emporium too!
Bye x
I was very excited to see the Spinster’s Emporium merchandise in Nottingham Contemporary. I took a sneaky shot on my phone so sorry about the quality. If your nearby why not pop in and have a look yourself.
